Building a data, analytics & insight function from inception
National Grid plc · London-listed · c.£17.7bn revenue · 33,000+ employees · UK & US operations
Read case study →MSA has placed data and commercial analytics people for 25 years — from analysts to heads of data, permanent, contract and interim. We know the skills, we know the market, and we only put forward people we'd hire ourselves.
FTSE 100 corporations, high-growth scale-ups and public sector institutions. 85% of our business is repeat.
Analytics is the discipline we recruit in. These are the areas within it that we cover, across whichever industry the work sits in.
Commercial, customer, pricing and forecasting analysts — scenario analysis, profitability modelling and advanced forecasting.
BI developers, reporting analysts and visualisation specialists building the reporting layer the business runs on.
Customer intelligence, customer insight, behavioural analytics, CRM and marketing analytics specialists.
Data scientists, machine learning engineers and predictive analytics specialists.
Data engineers and architects building the platforms and pipelines analytics runs on.
Location analytics, spatial modelling, network and route planning, and geographic data specialists.
Risk modellers and decision scientists across credit, pricing and operational risk.
Governance leads, data stewards and data quality specialists building trusted, well-managed data.
Business analysts, project and programme managers and transformation leads delivering data-led change.
Every level, both sides of the desk: Analyst → Senior Analyst → Manager → Head of Data / Analytics / Insight → Director & CDO
Data & commercial analytics is our niche — not one industry. We recruit for any business with a serious data function, and go deep where our clients need us most.
Utilities, energy networks and data centre operators.
Retailers, e-commerce and consumer brands.
Rail, coach, aviation and supply chain.
Insurance, fintech and consultancies.
Health tech, providers and pharma services.
Software, platforms and scale-ups.
Operations, capacity, energy and asset performance.
Councils, public bodies, universities and colleges.
Current US focus: our East Coast desk is busiest in data centre and infrastructure analytics — operations, capacity, energy and asset performance — and we follow the demand as it develops.
Supporting organisations across the UK and USA with specialist hiring across data, analytics, commercial insight and transformation.

Permanent, contract, interim and fractional hiring, whichever way suits the brief.
For senior and hard-to-fill roles. Priority resource, proactive headhunting, full candidate packs and a 95% fill rate.
Flexible, success-based hiring for established roles with clear specifications. You pay on results.
Pre-qualified contractors and interim specialists, typically deployable within 72 hours, plus Statement of Work project solutions where you need a defined deliverable rather than a headcount.
For hiring spikes and programmes. We work in-house as an extension of your talent team for a fixed period, rather than charging per placement.
We provide these alongside the recruitment work, or as standalone engagements in their own right.
Building and warming a bench of specialist talent ahead of the hire, so the role is filled from a known pool rather than a cold search.
Mapping a specialist market by company, function and seniority, so you can see exactly where the capability sits before you commit.
Practical guidance on hiring strategy, team structure, role design and retention, drawn from 25 years in the specialism.
Current, specialism-specific pay and package data so offers land first time and existing teams stay competitive.
We partner with major organisations undergoing complex transformation, helping them identify and secure the specialist data, analytics, technology and commercial talent needed to deliver change.

MSA Talent has recruited across data, commercial analytics and insight for more than 25 years.
Over that time, we've built a strong network of specialist talent and long-standing client relationships across the UK and USA. We assess people on the depth of their experience, how well they understand the work they deliver, and the commercial impact they can make — not just what appears on a CV.
Many of our clients have worked with us for years, and we have a portfolio of case studies that demonstrate the quality of the work and relationships we've built.
